Los Dos Hermanos is the perfect base from which to test El Rio de Parana’s reputation for world class fishing.
The lodge is located close to the much written about Paraná River, which is internationally respected for offering excellent sport along the full length of its course. This mighty river – which is South America’s second largest and smaller only than the Amazon - is also complemented by a huge number of other waterways such as streams, brooks and lagoons.
However even if the sheer variety of fishing sites on offer doesn’t impress you, the variety of the fish will. The species you’ll be able to test yourself against include the legendary freshwater dorado. Nicknamed the ‘river tiger’ because of its aggression and voracity whilst feeding, this iconic sport fish will put up such a fight, complete with acrobat leaps, after being hooked that you’ll be pumping with adrenaline long after your catch has been landed.
Another trophy fish native to the local waters is the surubí. This large catfish will again put up a tremendous fight and can grow to truly breathtaking proportions.
Not to be forgotten, the last member of the ‘big three’ species that helps to keep fisherman returning to fish this area again and again is the pacú. A challenge for even the best angler thanks to their size and incredible power, pacú can grow to 25 pounds and favor brooks and channels with slow or non-existent currents.
No matter which of these or our other local fish species appeals to you, one thing’s for certain. Our local guides know where to catch them – and catch them in abundance. So much so in fact, that at Los Hermanos we don’t just promise you an unforgettable fishing experience. We all but guarantee it. |
